Your data: copies and deletion

This page explains how to ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, and how to have that data deleted.

You can see which types of data we hold, and why, on our privacy page at ziax.com/terms.

Verify your identity first

We can only act on a data request once we know it is genuinely yours. Verification happens through Passport, so set this up before you email us.

Data requests can only be made by email. We cannot handle them through live chat or social media, because we have no way to verify who is asking.

  1. Create a Passport account using the same email address you will be emailing us from. See Passport: one account for everything.
  2. Link every account the request should cover. You can link more than one Java or Bedrock account if you want that erased too. See Link your Minecraft account.

Anything you do not link is not covered by the request.

Send your request

Email from the same address as your Passport account, and state clearly:

  • whether you want a copy of your data or a deletion,
  • that the request covers the accounts linked to your Passport account,
  • whether you want your Passport account itself deleted as well.

We process requests within 30 days, and let you know once yours is complete.

What is and is not removed?

Punishment records are kept, everything else we hold against the linked accounts is deleted: your profile, your personal details, and the data attached to those accounts, including purchases. Your forum posts may remain with the author anonymised, so conversations other people took part in stay readable.

Deletion cannot be undone. Ranks, progress, statistics and purchases are not recoverable afterwards, on either edition, and we cannot restore an account once the request has been carried out.If you are unsure, ask for a copy of your data first and decide afterwards.

Deleting only part of your data

A GDPR deletion request is all or nothing. If you make one, we are compelled by law to delete everything we hold about you, across every system. That includes your in-game data, your forum account and your purchases, whichever of them you had in mind when you asked.

If you cannot access your Minecraft account

Without verification we cannot process a deletion. If the account has been deleted, or you have lost access to it, there is no way for us to confirm ownership, so we cannot act on the request.

That leaves two options:

  • Recover your Minecraft account, then link and verify it as described above.
  • Let the data expire. Logs containing personal information are normally removed by our automated data pipelines within three months.
