Translating Cubecraft

CubeCraft is translated into a dozen languages by players, not by a translation agency. If you speak another language well, you can help.
Applications are open indefinitely and there is no limit on how many people can take part.

  2. Create your Weblate account 🖊️
  3. Start suggesting translations 🌍
  4. Change an approved translation ♻️

1. Apply to become a translator 🔠

Read the requirements and apply through our Translator Applications thread.
Once we have verified your information, your Weblate account is enabled and you can start translating into your language.

You need a Passport account before you apply on the forums. See [Passport: one account for everything].

2. Create your Weblate account 🖊️

Weblate is the platform we translate on. You do not register a separate password for it, you sign in with Passport.

  1. Go to translate.cubecraft.net, select Sign in, then select Passport.
  2. Log in with your Passport account.
  3. Select Languages, then Manage Translated Languages.
  4. Choose your interface language, which defaults to English, then the languages you will contribute to. Save the changes at the bottom of the page.

Your account now exists, but you still need it approved and your translator roles assigned before you can start. That happens on our side.

3. Start suggesting translations 🌍

Account approved and roles assigned? You can now contribute.

  1. Go to translate.cubecraft.net, select the Languages button, and choose the language you are translating.
  2. Select CubeCraft.
  3. Select Translate.
  4. Choose a filter.

The page offers several filters. The three most useful:

  • Unfinished strings without suggestions: strings with no translation suggestions yet.
  • Untranslated strings: strings still at the suggestion stage, including ones other translators have already suggested for.
  • Translated strings: approved translations not yet live on the server. Suggestions can still be added.

You can now translate, and vote on suggestions from other translators.

4. Change an approved translation ♻️

Spotted a translation on the server that should be reworded? You can suggest a change to it.

  1. Go to translate.cubecraft.net, select the Languages button, and choose your language.
  2. Select CubeCraft.
  3. Select Browse.
  4. Type the string text into the filter field.
  5. Select the string.
  6. Type your suggestion and select Suggest.

Approved translations with suggested changes go into their own category, and a reviewer will look at them as soon as possible.
